Two papers, each lasting approximately 45–50 minutes.
English: Focuses on reading comprehension (often two long passages) and SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar).
Mathematics: Covers the full National Curriculum Key Stage 2 syllabus, with some advanced "Level 6" style questions.
Speed/Volume: Historically, the exam is known for a high volume of questions in a short time (e.g., 60 questions in 50 minutes).
Marking: Scores are standardized. QE Barnet typically sets a "qualifying score" (historically 210), but because they have no catchment area, the 192 places are offered strictly in rank order of score.
No Catchment Area: QE Barnet is a "super-selective" school. They do not give preference to students living in Barnet. Boys travel from across London and the home counties to attend.
Rank Order: Places are awarded purely on the results of the entrance test. If 1,000 boys pass the qualifying score of 210, the 192 highest-scoring boys are offered places.
No Sibling Priority: Unlike many schools, having a brother at the school does not give an applicant any advantage.
School Portal: You must register your child on the QE website by June 5th. This is mandatory to sit the test
